7 Luxurious Spots to See in France This Autumn

1. Loire Valley

Have you ever imagined France as a fairytale country? Loire Valley is where this dream comes into reality. Think about this: dozens of majestic castles rising over rivers and vineyards trying to reach the sky. But among all the luxury, places likeChâteau de Chambord and Château de Chenonceau are particularly magical in autumn, framed by fiery red and orange leaves.

If you’re looking for something extra exciting, why not take a hot-air balloon ride for a bird’s-eye view? But after that, don’t forget to drop into some of the valley’s wineries, serving up Vouvray and Chinon.

2. Nice

We can boldly claim that autumn is the best time to visit Nice. It’s still warm, but the usual crowds are already gone. It’s when the French Riviera slows down, offering luxury at a fraction of the cost.

The weather remains perfect for practically anything. For example, you can stroll the Promenade des Anglais. Not your cup? Why not explore nearby Monaco and Eze? It’s pretty easy to do with a luxury car rental. Yes, you heard it right: when you’re in Nice, you want to feel that high-end vibe to the fullest. And what can be a better way to experience it than a luxury vehicle?

3. Bordeaux

Bordeaux is the city of wine, where every corner brims with class. Autumn is prime harvest time, and visiting this city means tasting the best Bordeaux wines straight from the source. Sounds like all wine lovers’ dream, right?

For the best experience, don’t miss the medieval village of Saint-Emilion or the world’s largest sand dune, Dune du Pilat, just outside the city. With fewer tourists, it’s a perfect time to savor Michelin-starred meals and enjoy the city’s Romanesque architecture.

Combine sightseeing with wide degustation — that’s the perfect vacation combo Bordeaux can offer.

4. Alsace

It’s another fairytale-like spot on this list, especially in autumn. Pay special attention to the northeastern region of Alsace. It’s known for its half-timbered houses and vineyards. Now think about the picture surrounded by shiny autumn leaves, brimming with all imaginable colors.

Kaysersberg and Eguisheim, with their narrow streets and charming cafés, are perfect for slow afternoons. Alsace is also home to the famous wine route, where you can sample Riesling and Gewürztraminer in postcard-perfect villages.

5. Provence

Most travelers think that Provence is synonymous with summer. Well, it is, but autumn is when you truly get to enjoy it without the crowds. You’re welcome to visit if you’re ready to sacrifice those warm days to see all those spots freely.

Autumn is when the region’s vineyards are buzzing with harvest, and boat trips through the Verdon Gorge offer serenity. And yes, you can still stroll through those famous lavender fields — while not as colorful, they still retain their charm. Don’t miss Aix-en-Provence, where you can walk in the footsteps of Cezanne or the luxury spas that dot the region.

6. Corsica

Corsica in autumn is wild, rugged, and luxurious in its way. Bonifacio’s cliffs and Ajaccio’s beaches are practically empty. Thus, you can expect privacy and stunning views. Though it’s not swimming weather, the island is perfect for hiking. The mountain villages of Corte and Zonza bring you closer to Corsican traditions, where the pace of life slows, and every meal feels like a feast.

7. Burgundy

Burgundy in the fall is all about indulgence. Think world-famous wines like Côte de Nuits and truffle hunts led by local experts. The medieval town of Dijon, with its stunning architecture and new Cité Internationale de la Gastronomie et du Vin, is a must. A perfect day here includes wine tasting, a stroll through the vineyards, and a meal of truffle-infused dishes.

Wrapping It All Up

France in autumn is for those who love luxury without the chaos of peak season. Whether you’re sipping wine in Burgundy or walking the streets of Nice, the elegance of these spots will leave you feeling like royalty. The best part? You can have these experiences with the backdrop of crisp fall air and glowing landscapes.
