Is Your Dog Allergic

Allergic reactions in canines can appear in many different forms because the allergen or stimulus gets inside the body, and the immune system overreacts. The point here is that it can be anything from a mild irritation on the skin to a situation like anaphylaxis that can be lethal. Unfortunately, even products made to help, like chews, food, or dental powder for dogs, can sometimes cause allergies if you fail to pick them carefully. So, how do you know if your woofer is having an allergic reaction? We did some homework and picked the top signals for that.

Your Pet Is Itching Too Much

As for the most typical signs of allergies in canines, the list starts with skin conditions. For instance, pet parents may notice that their furry buddies are scratching and licking all the time. Or perhaps they’re chewing certain body parts like ears, bellies, paws, etc. As a result, the skin gets red, dry, and excessively irritated.

Excessive Hair Loss

If your dog starts losing its coat or shedding more than usual, chances are your buddy is suffering from an allergy. It’s recommended to check them on a regular basis, looking for bald spots, especially in the areas where skin is irritated.

Mutts Suffer from Chronic Ear Infections

If ear infections seem to happen more often than usual, it’s time to consider environmental or food allergies. The variety of symptoms involves redness, head shaking, foul odor, or discharge from the ears. If you own a fluffball with floppy ears, keep in mind that they are more likely to suffer from infections, so ensure to clean their ears regularly.

Fuzzy Buddy Has a Swollen Face

Ouch! If that happens, it can be a pretty alarming sight. An allergic reaction can cause the ears, eyes, muzzle, and nose to swell in response to a substance that causes an allergic reaction. In most cases, such a reaction comes after spider bites, burrowing into the ground, bee stings, or insect bites.

Pup’s Sneezing Nonstop and Has Watery Eyes

If your good boy has symptoms that are similar to your seasonal allergies (sneezing, watery eyes, nasal discharge, and so on), chances are that dust, pollen, or mold stands behind them. In most cases, pet parents tend to mistake these signs for a typical cold, so be attentive. If the symptoms don’t go away, your fluffy buddy is most likely suffering from allergies.

Digestive Issues Become Part of the Routine

Food allergies usually show up in the form of tummy troubles. Conditions like diarrhea, vomiting, or a change in stool consistency can be signals that something in their diet doesn’t work for them. There are two ways to go here, guys – allergy test and an elimination diet. Thus, you will identify the culprit
