5 Best Ways for Using Sunscreen

Are you applying sunscreen, but you are still getting damage from the sun? To protect your skin from UV rays, you need to use sunscreen correctly, but many people forget to do a few simple things that can make a big difference.

When you know how to use sunscreen right, you can keep your skin safe and healthy all year. This blog will share the five best ways to use sunscreen for maximum protection.

1. Choose the Right SPF

A sun protection factor, also known as SPF, is a factor that helps block ultraviolet (UV) rays. An SPF that is higher provides more protection, but in most cases, an SPF of 30 is sufficient for daily use.

If you have sensitive skin or are in intense sun, consider SPF 50. Selecting the appropriate sun protection factor (SPF) can help prevent sunburn as well as long-term damage to the skin.

2. Apply Enough Sunscreen

In order to obtain complete protection, it is essential to apply an adequate amount of sunscreen. There are a lot of people who use too little, which decreases its capacity to work.

As a general rule, you should use at least one ounce, which is roughly equivalent to taking a shot glass full, to cover your entire body. If additional is required, especially in larger areas, you should not be afraid to use more. Proper application ensures you’re fully protected from harmful rays.

3. Don’t Forget Commonly Missed Spots

In the process of applying sunscreen, it is simple to overlook certain areas, such as the ears, the neck, and the tops of the feet. It is important to remember that these areas are subjected to the sun in the same way that your arms and legs are.

When trying to avoid sunburn, it is important to make sure that these areas are covered. Lips can also burn, so it is important to use a lip balm that contains sun protection factor (SPF) for additional protection.

4. Reapply Every Two Hours

Every two hours, especially if you are swimming or sweating, it is essential to reapply sunscreen because it does not last for the entire day. It is necessary to reapply sunscreen after getting wet, even if the sunscreen is water-resistant. Reapplying sunscreen regularly helps to protect your skin from potential sunburns and keeps it protected.

5. Pair Sunscreen with Other Sun Protection Measures

The most effective use of sunscreen is when it is combined with other sun protection measures. Additional protection can be obtained by donning items such as hats, sunglasses, and long-sleeved shirts.

When the sun is at its strongest, which is typically between 10 and 10 a.m., seek shade. If you use sunscreen in conjunction with these precautions, you will be completely protected from the sun’s ultraviolet (UV) rays.

Make Sunscreen a Daily Habit

Whether it’s cloudy, cool, or sunny, your skin is always exposed to UV rays, so applying sunscreen should be as routine as brushing your teeth. Prioritize your skin’s health by making sunscreen an essential part of your everyday routine!
