Tops Launches 15th Annual Food for Families Campaign

Rochester, NY—Tops Friendly Markets has launched its 15th annual Food for Families campaign to support local food banks and provide meals to families in need throughout the region.

The initiative, which started on November 27 and runs through December 24, encourages customers to purchase pre-filled paper bags at Tops locations. These bags contain various non-perishable food items, each costing $5, $10, or $20. The collected items will be donated to local food banks and pantries to help combat food insecurity during the holiday season.

Tops Friendly Markets President and COO John Persons emphasized the importance of community support, especially during the challenging winter months. “We are incredibly grateful for our customers’ generosity and their impact on our community. Every donation helps provide meals to families who might otherwise go without.”

In addition to purchasing the pre-filled bags, customers can make monetary donations at the register or through the Tops website. These contributions will be used to purchase additional food items for those in need.

The Food for Families campaign has become a significant part of Tops’ commitment to fighting hunger in the community. Over the past 14 years, the campaign has raised millions of dollars and provided countless meals to families facing food insecurity.

Local food banks, including Foodlink and the Food Bank of Western New York, have praised the initiative for its ongoing support. Foodlink’s Executive Director, Julia Tedesco, highlighted the campaign’s impact: “Tops’ Food for Families campaign is a vital resource for our organization. The donations we receive help ensure that no one in our community has to worry about where their next meal is coming from.”

The campaign also benefits from the support of community volunteers, who help collect, sort, and distribute the donated food items. Tops employees and local organizations often pitch in to ensure the initiative’s success.

As the campaign enters its 15th year, Tops Friendly Markets remains dedicated to supporting local families and fighting hunger. The company encourages everyone to participate in the Food for Families campaign and make a difference in their community this holiday season.
